Privacy Policy

Effective date: September 1, 2026 · Last updated: September 1, 2026

This is a plain-language summary of a legal document, written to be genuinely protective, but it has not been reviewed by a lawyer licensed in India.

1. Introduction

Mohd Kaif Ansari ("Keanso", "we", "us") operates keanso.in. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have. It is written with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") in mind, and applies to everyone who uses Keanso, regardless of location.

Under the DPDP Act, you are a "Data Principal" and Keanso is the "Data Fiduciary" for the account data described below. Where you enter your clients' data into Keanso, you are the Data Fiduciary for that data and Keanso processes it as your processor. See Section 5 of our Terms of Service.

2. Information we collect

  • Account data: your name, email address, and authentication details (via Firebase Authentication, including Google sign-in if you use it).
  • Client data you provide: the name, email, phone number, and company of any client you add, entered by you.
  • Invoice & payment-status data: amounts, due dates, currencies, reminder history, and payment status you record.
  • Wall of Shame submissions: the amount, days overdue, client type, and story text you submit, plus your account ID and an attestation timestamp (kept privately for accountability, never shown publicly).
  • Communications: messages exchanged through the in-app Inbox, including client replies to reminder emails.
  • Usage & device data: log data such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited, collected automatically.

3. How we use information

  • To provide the core service: creating invoices, sending reminders, and displaying your dashboard.
  • To operate the Wall of Shame: reviewing submissions before publication, computing aggregate public statistics, and responding to reports.
  • To communicate with you about your account, including service notices and, where you've agreed, product updates.
  • To maintain security, prevent abuse, and enforce rate limits.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not use your data to serve third-party advertising.

4. Consent & legal basis

We process your account data based on your consent, given when you create a Keanso account, and to perform our contract with you (these Terms). You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account, subject to Section 7 on retention. For client data you enter, you are responsible for the legal basis, typically your own contract or relationship with that client, as described in our Terms.

5. How we share information

We share personal data only with the following categories of recipients:

  • Google Firebase / Google Cloud for authentication and database hosting.
  • Resend for sending and receiving reminder and reply emails on your behalf.
  • Law enforcement or regulators only where required by applicable law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Keanso or others.

We do not sell or rent personal data to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

6. Wall of Shame & anonymity

What is shown publicly on the Wall of Shame, the amount, days overdue, a generic client-type category, and your story text, never includes your name, your account, or any identifying detail, by design. Internally, we retain the link between a submission and the account that made it, along with your attestation confirmation, so we can enforce rate limits, investigate abuse, and respond to reports. This internal link is never made public.

7. Data retention

  • Account, client, and invoice data is retained for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period after deletion to comply with legal, tax, or dispute-resolution obligations.
  • Wall of Shame entries are automatically retired after 12 months and are no longer shown publicly after that point, though the underlying record may be retained privately as described above.
  • You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. See Section 8.

8. Your rights

Under the DPDP Act and as a matter of general practice, you have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Request erasure of your data, subject to our legal retention obligations.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, with the same effect as withdrawing it initially.
  • Nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of death or incapacity, as provided under the DPDP Act.
  • Lodge a complaint with us and, if unresolved, with the Data Protection Board of India once constituted.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@keanso.in.

9. Cross-border data transfer

Our infrastructure providers (Google Firebase/Google Cloud, Resend) may store or process data outside India. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on the safeguards those providers offer and take reasonable steps to ensure your data continues to receive an appropriate level of protection.

10. Data security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including access-controlled Firestore security rules, server-side authentication checks, and rate limiting on public-facing endpoints. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to or stored by Keanso.

11. Children's privacy

Keanso is intended for business use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Cookies

We use essential cookies and browser storage required for authentication and core functionality, for example, keeping you signed in. We do not currently use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Keanso may link to third-party sites, for example, a payment link you add to an invoice. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of sites we do not operate.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above, and where appropriate we will notify you directly.

15. Privacy & Data Protection contact
